What is 'self-sponsorship'

Self-sponsorship is the term given to a process whereby an individual makes an application
to come and work in the UK using their own company as the sponsor. Through this business
an application for a Skilled Worker Visa can be made which can lead to permanent residency
and British citizenship.

How confident are you that the sponsor licence application will be approved?

We work with an experienced immigration solicitor who has 25 years post qualification experience behind her and helped to secure over 250 sponsor licence applications over the years.

You will also be appointed a fully trained and qualified Business Support Officer trained in UKVI compliance and HR issues.

How confident are you of the skilled worker visa application being successful?

Once the sponsor licence is approved and the CoS assigned, there should not be any issue with the skilled worker application being approved.  The first 2 hurdles have been surmounted.

How likely is it that my company is inspected by a Home Office Compliance Officer before the licence is approved?

As it’s a start up, the likelihood is very high hence the reason why we support your application with appointing a suitable and experienced Business Support Officer to your business who can double up as the Authorising Officer for the sponsor licence.

Can I do supplementary work apart from working for my own business?

Yes you are entitled to work for up to 20 hours per week under the same SOC code or undertaking a job which falls within the Shortage Occupation List.

Can I hire other people ( from outside the UK) if the business gets busy?

Yes if the business warrants it there is nothing stopping you from hiring other skilled workers.

Can I be the level 1 user for the business?

No, the level 1 user must be either a British citizen or settled in the UK.  In most situations, the level 1 user ( for the business ) is also the Authorising Officer..

Can I bring my dependants to the UK?

Yes your partner and any children, under 18, are entitled to come to the UK as your dependants.

Can my partner work in the UK?

Yes s/he can work for any organisation as long as its not a doctor/ dentist in training or a sports person.   They do not need to be sponsored and entitled to set up a business and become director.

Can I switch and work for my partner’s business?

As long as you are sponsored by your partner’s business and the role falls within the skilled worker list of professions.

Am I allowed to study in the UK?

Yes you are.

Can my children attend school in the UK?

Yes they can.
